EE has topped the results of the first 5G London tests conducted by Global Wireless Solutions (GWS), registering download task throughputs of above 350 Mbps. Vodafone and O2 both registered download task throughputs of above 200 Mbps.

The tests show varying 5G speeds across London, delivering instantaneous peaks of over 460 Mbps for EE around St Paul’s Cathedral, 330 Mbps for O2 at Victoria Station, and over 320 Mbps for Vodafone in Belgrave Square. For upload speeds, Vodafone saw maximum task throughput of over 60 Mbps, compared to over 30 Mbps for both EE and O2.

Overall, the operators were able to complete 35 percent of the data tasks at download speeds of over 100 Mbps and 46 percent of the tasks at upload speeds of over 20 Mbps. GWS conducted the tests between 06-18 November using Samsung Galaxy 5G smartphones powered by the GWS OneMeasure diagnostic app.
